Is the oldest State Park in New York having been established in 1885 and is located in Niagara Falls, New York. This Park is site of the world famous American Falls and Bridal Veil/Luna Falls. Breathtakingly beautiful and natural, tourists walk among the many tree lined paved pedestrian pathways and bridges to Prospect Point, Green Island, Luna Island, Goat Island, the Three Sister Islands and Terrapin Point. During the winter months, Terrapin Point and Luna Island are usually closed off to members of the public because of dangerous ice conditions caused by the mist freezing on contact.

8.) The Scow (Barge)

is located in the Niagara River a short distance upstream from the Horseshoe Falls. The Scow broke free from a tug boat in August of 1918 with two men aboard. The Scow became stuck when the crew members opened the bottom hatch of the Scow, dumping its contents. Both men were rescued. All year round. Cost is FREE.

is located within Queen Victoria Park at the Table Rock complex at the crest of the Horseshoe Falls. Can be viewed during day or night. Elevators take the visitors over a 150 feet (46m) underground to several tunnels which lead to a viewing areas near the edge of the Horseshoe Falls. 10.) Maid of the Mist (USA)

docks are located at the foot of the Prospect Point Observation Tower in the Niagara Falls State Park in Niagara Falls, New York. The Maid of the Mist tour boats take visitors on a passage up the Niagara River to within several hundred yards (182m) of the thundering American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. Each of two boats carries up to 600 persons on each trip. Raincoats are issued but be prepared to get soaked. This is the premier ride to view the Falls and a must for the serious tourist Open Seasonal (first week of April to last week of October river conditions permitting). A fee is charged. A guide will lead tourists on an exhilarating adventure to the base of the Niagara Gorge and over a series of wooden decks and stairs below the Bridal Veil/Luna Falls coming within fifteen five (15) feet from the Falls. Stand on the hurricane deck nearest the Bridal Veil/Luna Falls and feel the forces of nature as the winds and water of the mighty cataracts combine. is located at Prospect Point within the Niagara Falls State Park in Niagara Falls, New York. View the American Falls and the Niagara Gorge from a unique perspective. Providing a magnificent view, the Prospect Point  Observation Tower rises 279 feet (85m) above the base of the Niagara Gorge. Also doubles as the entrance to the Maid of the Mist docks below. At the base of the tower, follow a groomed path and stairway leading to the "Crow's Nest" an observation deck at the edge of the American Falls. The Crow's nest was added in 1999 at a cost of $141,000.

An elevator takes visitors approximately 150 feet (46m) to a waters edge boardwalk beside the world famous Whirlpool Rapids. 15.) The Niagara Glen Nature Trail & Park

is located along the Niagara Parkway 2 km (1.2 miles) North of the Whirlpool. It is a 55.5 acre picnic & nature park. A viewing area is located at the top of the park. Stairways and nature trails lead the visitor to the River Rapids below. Some of the best nature & geological sights in Niagara. This area was the crest of the Falls approximately 8,000 years ago. The Nature Trails are physically demanding and the participant should be in good health. Open Seasonal. Cost is FREE.

16.) Niagara Parks - Botanical Gardens, School of Horticulture & Butterfly Conservatory

is located along the Niagara Parkway 2.5 km (1.5 miles) North of the Whirlpool (between the Niagara Glen Nature Park & Sir Adam Beck Generating Station. The park is a 100 acre world class botanical garden for everyone whether an amateur of professional horticulturist. Hand groomed plants & trees of many varieties. Over 4,000 plant specimens and over 2,000 individual species can be found here. Each year 24-36 students majoring in Horticulture maintain the floral gardens. It is the home of the Butterfly Conservatory. The Botanical Gardens are a photographers delight and the staging area for many wedding pictures. Open Seasonal. Cost is FREE to the Botanical Gardens.

17.) Ontario Power Generation - Sir Adam Beck Hydro- Electric Generating Stations

The Sir Adam Beck Generating Stations are located along the Niagara Parkway (between the Botanical Gardens & Queenston Heights Park). From a roadside observation platform the visitor can view the Niagara River Gorge and the outside of the Sir Adam Beck Generating Stations #1 & #2. The penstocks (concrete encased tubes) which take water to the turbines below are prominent. A excellent view of the Robert Moses Hydro Electric Generating Station is available from this location. All Year Round. Cost is FREE.

Sir Adam Beck Generating Stations does not offer plant tours

 

The Robert Moses Hydro Electric Generating Station located at 5777 Lewiston Road in Lewiston New York offers visitors the Niagara Power Project Visitors Center (Power Vista). A glass enclosure at the edge of the Niagara Gorge offers visitors an unequalled view of the Sir Adam Beck and Robert Moses Power Stations. All Year Round. Cost is FREE.

The Power Vista is now open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Robert Moses Generating Station does not offer plant tours. 

The public is invited to visit the many new and exciting interactive displays and models for children and adults alike. The Power Vista provides some of the most exciting panoramas available of the Niagara River and both the Sir Adam Beck Power Stations (Ontario) and the Robert Moses Power Station alike. It is a virtual science center for learning about the generation and development of electricity.

A visit to the Power Vista is highly recommended and is FREE to the public. Spend a morning or afternoon with the friendly and helpful staff of the New York State Power Authority. This attraction is a must for everyone.

The ultimate ride of Jet Boating from the sedate waters of the Niagara River at Lake Ontario through the churning and turbulent waters of the lower Niagara Gorge rapids into the Niagara River Whirlpool. Challenge the 16 foot drop of the Devil's Hole and their massive white water waves (class III). An experience like none other. View the beauty and the power of the Niagara River from natures point of view...the River. A must for the serious tourist. On wet jet boats, water gear is provided however expect to get wet. A dry jet boat is available for those wishing to experience the exhilaration of challenging the Niagara River without being subjected to a soaking. The Whirlpool Jet Boat Company operates a fleet of six jet boats: 5 wet jet boats & 1 dry jet boat. Each is a 46 foot long and 14 foot wide flat bottom aluminium vessel propelled by three turbo jet engines capable of generating a total of 1,600 horsepower. Each boat weighs 2,500 pounds and can carry up to 40 passengers with a crew of three.

25.) Hornblower Niagara Cruises (Canada)

 

This is the newest attraction in Niagara Falls,Canada. Operations begin in April of 2014. Hornblower Niagara Cruises will provide daily boat tours to the base of the Falls as well as specialty tours in early morning and evenings aboard two newly built 700 person aluminum catamaran and a specialty vessel. Hornblower takes over Canadian operations from the Maid of the Mist Tour Boat Company after winning an open bid competition. Hornblower won the award from the Niagara Parks Commission for a term of 30 years for $500 million dollars. Hornblower will operate in direct competition with the US based Maid of the Mist Company.

is located on Murray Street at Buchanan Avenue in the City of Niagara Falls overlooking Queen Victoria Park and the Falls. At approximately 520 feet, the Skylon Tower is the tallest structure in Niagara. The tower was opened in the autumn of 1964. Take the yellow bug (exterior glass encased elevator) to the top observation deck or the revolving dining room. On a clear day a visitor can see a hundred miles. A must for photographers. 27.) Queenston Heights Park (Brock's Monument)

is located along the Niagara Parkway in Queenston, Ontario ( North of the Queenston - Lewiston International Bridge). Home of a Memorial Monument to British General Isaac Brock who died at Queenston on October 13th 1812, in battle against the invading Americans during the War of 1812. Visitors can climb the narrow spiral staircase 130 feet (40m) to a small observation deck for an excellent view of the park and the countryside including the hydro reservoirs, the Niagara Gorge, Lewiston New York and the Lower Niagara River. The park is 43 acres of nicely manicured lawns for picnics and sports activities alike. Concerts are occasionally held at the band shell. Open Seasonal. Cost is FREE. Wheelchair accessible.

The Niagara Aquarium is located at 701 Whirlpool Road (just north of the Rainbow Bridge) in the City of Niagara Falls, New York. Sea-lion performances are held every 90 minutes. 29.) Niagara Gorge Discovery Center

is located on Whirlpool Road, Niagara Falls, New York just north of the Rainbow Bridge. Learn about the fascinating geological history of the Niagara Gorge that includes a virtual elevator ride through 300 feet (90 m) of various rock strata. Learn about the history of Niagara Falls and the History of Power through interactive exhibits and a multi- screen theatre. Open Seasonal. A fee is charged. Wheelchair accessible.

The Niagara Gorge Discovery Center (formerly known as the Schoellkopf Geological Museum) was opened on January 2nd 1971. It is located on the former site of the Schoellkopf Hydro Electric Generating Station #3 that was destroyed by a rockslide on June 7th 1956.

The museum building was designed in the shape of a water turbine.

30.) Whirlpool State Park - Niagara Falls, New York

 

is a New York State Park located approximately 2 miles north of the City of Niagara Falls along the Robert Moses Parkway at the Niagara River Whirlpool.  A beautiful park and picnic area amongst the mature trees at the edge of the Whirlpool. Offers an unparalleled view of the Whirlpool, Spanish Aero Car and the mighty Whirlpool Rapids (class V - VI).  A stairway leads to the 3.5 miles of nature trails at the base of the Niagara Gorge and the Niagara River between the Whirlpool Rapids and Devil's Hole Park.  Hiking, fishing and picnics are permitted. Hiking along pathways at the base of the gorge can be physically demanding and should be undertaken by persons in good health and mobility. Cost is FREE. 31.) Devil's Hole State Park - Lewiston, New York

 

is a New York State Park  located 4 miles north of the City of Niagara Falls along the Robert Moses Parkway at the edge of the Niagara Gorge.  A geological snapshot of the history of the Niagara Gorge 12,000 years ago. A beautiful and picturesque nature and picnic area next to the Robert Moses Power Station.

A stairway provides access to nature trails into Devil's Hole to the base of the Niagara Gorge. A 3.5 mile nature trail along the edge of the Niagara River extends from Devil's Hole to the Whirlpool Rapids. Site of a DeCew - Dolostone Cave. Hiking, fishing and picnics are permitted. Hiking along pathways at the base of the gorge can be physically demanding and should be undertaken by persons in good health and mobility. Cost is FREE.   Wheelchair accessible (limited).

Devil's Hole Ravine is located along the American shoreline of the Niagara River Gorge just north of the Niagara Glen. It is a deep bowl shaped basin of the Bloody Run tributary from Glacial Lake Tonawanda. After the Niagara River eroded the Niagara Gorge beyond Devil's Hole, the waters of Lake Tonawanda were still draining. One of the secondary outlets was at Devil's Hole where a water falls created a ravine adjacent to the wall of the Niagara Gorge. The flow of Lake Tonawanda diminished before this infant gorge could establish itself. The name Bloody Run recalls the massacre of British soldiers by the Seneca Indians in 1763.

The Ontario Power Generation water portal intake gate structures are located along the Niagara Parkway approximately 2 miles South of the Horseshoe Falls. These massive shut-off gates are held in a constant state of readiness. They would be closed to shut off either one or both of the forty five (45) foot (14m) diameter concrete tunnels in the case of an extreme emergency if it was necessary to shut off the water flow to the Sir Adam Beck Generating Station #2. All Year Round. Cost is FREE.

Similar Intake Gate structures for the Robert Moses Hydro Generating Station are located along the American shoreline approximately 2 miles east of the Falls. Access is available from the Robert Moses Parkway. All Year Round. Cost is FREE.

37.) Earl W. Brydges Art Park - Lewiston, New York

 

Art Park

The manicured lawns of Art Park

 

is a 202 acre New York State Park dedicated to visual and performing arts. It was opened in 1974. Art Park is located in Lewiston, New York near the Queenston-Lewiston International Bridge. Art Park is a performing arts center for both the performing arts and visual arts. Both concerts and musical theatre take place at a 2,400 seat amphitheatre. This theatre is open from June through September.  A smaller theatre seating 150 persons offers smaller musicals between March through December. During the summer months, many daytime arts and crafts activities take place. Stroll or picnic amongst the beautiful parklands of Art Park. For those more adventurous, several hiking trails along the Niagara Gorge provide many differing views of the Niagara River and the Niagara Power Projects. Cost is FREE. Wheelchair accessible (limited).

 

 

 



 

 

38.) Dufferin Islands

 

Dufferin Islands are maintained by the Niagara Parks Commission. It is a beautiful and quiet nature area consisting of four islands inter-laced with walking paths connected together by bridges and several man made islands. The fast moving waters through Dufferin Islands have since been reduced drastically by the hydro electric water diversion upstream. The intake water gates for the Ontario Power Hydro-Electric Generating Station (retired & located just below the Horseshoe Falls) are located along the Niagara River at the mouth of Dufferin Islands. Wheelchair accessible (limited).

Dufferin Islands are open year round. Cost is FREE.

39.) Niagara Falls Historical Museum

 

is located at 5810 Ferry Street in the City of   Niagara Falls, Ontario. Experience the rich and colourful history of Niagara Falls through many artefacts which are collected, preserved and exhibited. Learn of our earliest settlers, native tribes, the War of 1812 and other significant historical events which has sculptured the City of Niagara Falls and the Niagara Frontier. Open weekdays 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. A fee is charged.

 

 

 



 

 

40.) Incline Railway

 

The Incline Railway

The Incline Railway

 

is located leading from the Table Rock Pavilion at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls to the Fallsview area above. Built in the 1960's, the incline railway is designed to provide easy access to and from the Falls and Queen Victoria Park to the Fallsview area on top of the 27 meter high (88.5 feet) glacial moraine which borders the western edge of the Niagara Parks (Queen Victoria Park). In 2013-2014, the Incline Railway was completely rebuilt to allow for all season operation in twin climate controlled gondola cars. Open Seasonal. A fee is charged.
